Fiesta Mexicana: Celebrating Mexico's Independence!

Ballet Solana had another fun performance this weekend at Fiesta Mexicana's celebration in West Valley! Yunuen Carrillo invited us to once again perform with her and what a great opportunity it is to be on stage with her while she sings!

We were also excited to have Analy do our makeup! Analy said, "If your going to be on TV you have too look good!" She did a great job, I think we're gonna have to hire her! Thanks Analy for making us look and feel pretty!
I'm excited my girls are performing more! They are learning to be quite the professional dancers even when unexpected situations arise and making it fun, because we all know when we are enjoying ourselves it shows in our performance and the audience has a great time!
We were having fun playing in the mud...literally!
With this performance celebrating Mexico's Independence, we were glad to perform an Adelita piece. Yunuen sang a beautiful and heart felt song, "Yo Me Muero Donde Quiera"!I'll admit I get a little emotional when I hear this song and dance to represent those brave women who chose to go to war and fight along side the men!
When a dancer is not able to perform I jump in and I have to admit though I would rather watch them dance I enjoy being back on stage! We missed you Siria!
Look at this cute little Michoacano! I think he might be a future Ballet Solana dancer! Thank you Yunuen Carrillo and Fiesta Mexicana for letting us be apart of your celebration! VIVA MEXICO!

Payson Onion Days Performance with Mrs. Yunuen Carrillo!

Ballet Solana had the honor this weekend to perform with Mrs. Yunuen Carrillo!! She is an amazing singer and friend. Give her the opportunity to liven up your fiesta and you will NOT be disappointed!

Check her out here at http://www.facebook.com/yunuen.carrilloutah
She gave my students the opportunity to perform a dance from the beautiful region of Veracruz! I was excited to finally share this costume we made, Veracruz Huasteca! And of course my girls were super excited to model it off!
Vanessa and Marely came to help on a weekend to hand paint each costume!!!Thanks girls for all your help!
Yes, we hand painted each costume! Our budget is small so we try to make all of our costumes. I think we do a pretty good job at keeping the authenticity of each regions costume! Thanks to my folklorico mentor and friend, Juanita Lopez for helping me keep it right!
And of course we missed you girls at this weekends performance but not too worry, we still have a chance to see the rest of our dancers at Ballet Solana's end of year student performance coming up in November!!!! That's Saturday, November 2nd at the Peteetneet Cultural Arts Center in Payson, our hometown!
I love how they turned out...you should see them on stage! These girls are beautiful!
Yaretzy our Folklorico Model!
Wendy having fun on stage! That's what it's all about, right?
Here is Wendy in her almost complete Charro outfit! Dancing to Yunuen singing La Charreada was awesome! This is how you get the fiesta started!!!
Thanks again to Yunuen Carrillo for sharing her stage time! If you missed us this weekend, plan to come see us on Saturday November 2nd, at the Peteetneet Cultural Arts Center in Payson!! Happy Labor Day!
